PffftWut This Still Exists?

Haha, oh wow, I just remembered that I had one of these floating around. Probably should just deactivate. Or keep it around for archival purposes. Whatevs. :P

An update? For who?

I've started the second semester of my Junior year. Last semester was a struggle, but that's mostly because I have a real problem with conforming to schedules. Story boarding was the biggest problem area for me, and unfortunately, I didn't get my act together until the end of the semester. Really thankful that my teacher was so lenient and patient (although that didn't stop him from rightfully diminishing my grades on late work), and actually allowing late work unlike other teachers I've had. Otherwise, I most likely would have failed. The academics were trivial at best- why exactly did I need another essay-writing class? Things I will never know.

I bought a Macbook despite my long-running dislike of Apple, but I'll admit that it wasn't as bad as I would have thought owning one would be. There's no real downside other than what the pricetag was- and all the problems I thought I'd have. My poor Asus goes pretty much ignored half the time now. xD

What I really can't wait for is going to school in Vancouver after graduation. It's the number one thing I look forward to over everything else! The Art Institute has a gaming program out there, and I've already been accepted, graduation or no. The admissions counselor advised that I get my degree, and I have to say, it'd be a waste of money to not do so. There's so many things that I'm looking forward to with all that- the chance to do what I want to do, be able to live out on my own with my fiance (who's heckbent on coming with), and a friend or two plan on moving to Seattle, which'd be only two and a half hours away. I planned to be in Seattle a lot anyway. There's the Pokemon Center! And my aunt and uncle who I haven't seen in YEARS!

As for personal, there isn't much to tell. Same old, same old. A bunch of old friends and I have united with some other new friends and we've been partying it out every Friday. I recently turned 21, and my mom got a nice picture of me getting carded at dinner the other night. xD

Well, that's about it. Let's see how long it takes to remember that I have one of these again.

Kitsune Kon

It's the second and last night here in Appleton, WI for the first year of Kitsune Kon. This is the first con outside of ACen that I've ever been to, and this has been a real experience. It's been real interesting to see how this has bloomed and how big it is for its first year.

The first day was my buying day. The dealer's room was small, just two rooms that were as big as the hotel room that we're staying in. It was a little strange at first (since I'm so used to ACen's size), but it's actually been a good thing! I've spent significantly less money on things here, and the quality of what I bought is good. I've bought a small Pikachu phone strap, a Zorua plush (so excited for Black next week!), and Munchkin for my lovey. Today I bought a really nice Asuka doll from Evangelion, which Tiffany Grant, her voice, actor, signed right on the dress! Maybe I'll post up pics.

The panels here are really small as well, but hey- no lines! Ughh, I remember the Gaia panel and the hentai panels at ACen. Wasn't able to get into either last year. The Tales of Con Horror one last night was really good, and today was the AMV contest and Cosplay contest. There were very few AMVs, perhaps like, five-seven; the cosplay contest was only a handful of people, but the quality of the costumes were excellent. I've seen a papercrafted Megatron! Also got to meet Heza-chan for the first time; she's a really cool person!

Today's been kind of lazy. Bought Asuka and did the signing. That was at about ten to around noon. Don went off to the game room and I went up to the room to sleep, since we had the floor last night (ughh, uncomfortable!). Then after that was the AMV and Cosplay contest a couple hours apart.

I'm sort of vegging right now, in front of Don's computer while he's off at a Munchkins tournament and the other three are off at the rave. Unfortunately, I get really aggravated when I'm stuck with large groups of people for too long, so this is my opportunity to sit around and not listen to the other two girls of the group talk well, girly. I may be a chick myself, but I'm not particularly feminine; I don't even like it when people call me "Miss".

So that's been my weekend. Hopefully everything goes smoothly tomorrow afternoon when we leave, and here's hoping I don't forget anything! xD

Self-Hate

Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it?

I've finished up my first year at the Academy. It's been a lot of fun, despite the bitchiness that ensued near the end. Two of the group's friends had dated, a friend that I've known for a while and another chick who we had just met that year. Needless to say, my friend did not like his other-half, thinking she was no longer the little angel he originally thought. After dumping her, and promising to still be a friend, she did a total 180. She was already quiet, but then decided to get our other friend to ignore both my friend and me. Both of us just shrugged, and dumped them like a box of rocks. Who needs dumb broads? I've decided to not forge friendships in overly-emotional chicks. I shouldn't have to turn my back on my own gender, but frankly, I don't care. :/

I guess that does factor into my current mental state, though I didn't really think about it. Lately I've begun hating myself again, totally unprovoked. To my conscious knowledge, I don't remember making a terribly bad decision, nor have I been trudging up past experiences. It's just a sudden onset of self-hate. I hate the length of my hair, my bust, my friggin' hips. Basically anything that's remotely female. But honestly, I think it'd still be self-hate if I were male, just at different things. I don't know.

Maybe someday I'll figure myself out.

ACen is around the corner, tomorrow in fact. Sadly, my cosplay never came to fruition. Part of it's done. But whatever. I frankly don't care. The fact that I'm hosting the hotel room already has me quite on-edge. It'll turn out in the end. Even with the stress, I'm looking forward to it. As well, Saturday marks mine and my lovey's four year anniversary. <3

Well, I still need to get all packed up. Tomorrow is a freakishly big day. Til next time. Maybe.

College Stuff~

So life as a college student is going pretty well.
My social life has gone to heck, but honestly, I don't really mind. I get to see my awesome lovey, and that's enough for me. I've been assigned a lot of projects since starting, and although they can be frustrating and untimely (as well as overly time-consuming), I've learned quite a lot. Such as the past week or two, I have honestly learned more on perspective, albeit one-point, than I ever did in high school art. No surprise there, really, but the way that they've taught us at the academy has proven both lengthy and well worth it. I'm actually having fun with it. xD
Last week I bought Assassin's Creed 2, and been enjoying it. Unfortunately, Don got Dragonage: Origins as well, so I haven't gotten a lot of time to play my game. I'm looking into buying the collectors edition, but I'm seriously pissed about it. The Black Edition is only available in the U.K./Canada, which sucks royally. I have to settle for Master Assassin edition, which is pretty much White Edition. Ah well. Hopefully I'll be able to get it this Friday, when I'm out with my grandfather. We like to go out the day after Thanksgiving (though I would prefer any other day much better) for breakfast, a movie and some shopping. If I do find it, though, I'll be selling my other copy. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with the pre-order code that I got with it, seeing as how the ME version has the same code, and I haven't used mine. Maybe I'll sell it to a friend or something.
Today's been mellow, but not all that good. Spent an hour working on one shadow (cursed intricate table) for our perspective project. A little after I got home, I found out that my great-grandfather had died. My mom's really torn about it, since she really looked up to him, and had wanted to go down there and be with him while he passed. I'm just happy that he died in his sleep, and that now he'll be with my great-grandmother. Even though I don't believe in Heaven or Hell, I do believe there is something after death.
And onto something a little less serious, I went looking into how STDs were first formed. I know they tell you that it's from "doing the deed" with multiple partners or whatever, but I wanted to know where it all started. Found out that there's a simple answer: they've been known for as long as other named diseases, it's just no one thought to attribute them to sex. xD
What irks me though, is that on a Yahoo! Answer question about it (which, mind you, I know isn't the smartest community to look for answers), the answers were so... ignorant! Most of them were talking about how it was a guy who fooled around with a monkey in Africa, and then went back and fooled with a woman, thereby spreading the disease. Most of the others were sure that it was caused by someone practicing bestiality; one even believed that AIDs/HIV was a government test gone wrong! The version I was told was that a man was working for an airline company, that touched down in Africa. He happened to form a love interest with a tribeswoman, and in tradition with her tribe, ate monkey brain with her. When he returned to wherever he came from (it was either the U.S., or France, which I think is the more accurate one), he went into a relationship with another woman, hence spreading it. I was told this by my high school Anatomy and Physiology teacher, so although I barely doubt his words, don't hold it to truth. It would make sense, though, since I think it has been proven that AIDs is a monkey-born disease that is formed within their brains.
Well, I hope you all enjoyed my new little rant. Hopefully you all learned something. xD

Fun Times~

Ah yes. It's week 4 of my first 16 week semester, and already I've missed two days because of illness (yesterday and today). Luckily, I had studio classes both days, which have a limit of 8 miss-able days, so at least that isn't too bad. If I had missed tomorrow, that wouldn't have been good, since I have a class that only meets those days and therefore, we can only miss two days of. =__=
Life has been treating me well, other than the illness. Last week, I found the wig that I need for the Yoko cosplay, which I'll be purchasing tomorrow. I also learned of a way to inexpensively dye the wig thanks to the interwebs, so I also have to go to the art store nearby afterward to pick up some liquid ink which they conveniently have in the color that I need. Also found the gloves at the length that I need, so everything's coming together pretty well. :3
Last weekend I was able to get down to Ikea to shop for a desk, and went home with an awesome light-table that you can lower and heighten with pegs. My parents were also nice enough to take me over to Mitsuwa, and I picked up a big monthly publishing of manga by Square Enix, as well as an issue of New Type. The Square one came with this adorable Edward phone strap from FMA, and the other one came with a Mari Makinami figurine from the new Evangelion remake. I'm trying to see about going again next month - maybe they'll have a Roy Mustang strap! It was cool, too, 'cause my little cousin was there, and that was her first look into anything outside of our little country. She got a magazine, too, with a cute little bento with a note pad that looked like food to go with it, a rose pen, and a whole bunch of other stuff. It's always so awesome to introduce little kids to stuff like that. :3
School's been fun, as well as the little happenings. I pre-ordered Halo: ODST, and instead of picking it up on the Tuesday it came out, I went to the midnight release with my boyfriend. We waited outside for like, three hours because we had gotten down there early to pay it off real quick, and browse around. Really, I thought there would be more people there, but only a small crowd gathered by the end of the night. My lovey was amazing though!
There was this tiny woman, probably a little older than me, who had gotten there about twenty minutes before the door opened. When we were let inside, and the workers were telling everyone to step behind a certain point in front of the registers, she was trying to assert that she was going to be first before us. Well, when the manager (or at least the leader of the workers for this event) gave the go ahead, instead of letting her get any headway, my lovey swooped forward quickly with one giant step and with his bigness blocked the counter from her. In the end, she even weakly threatened him, but it didn't matter. xD
But alas, not all fun goes unpunished. The night had been cold, and instead of just putting on my shoes again, I had wanted my feet to get a breather and slipped on my flip-flops. This created a really wonderful cold that I've been battling since Tuesday morning. It was bearable, though. My first class was English, with one of my favorite teachers. She talked for like, a half an hour, then let us watch Donnie Darko (who could be miserable watching that movie?). Afterward was Fundamentals of Art, and other than the teacher being late again (though not as late as the day before where she didn't show up until 15 minutes after class was supposed to start), we pretty much had free reign.
Well, I shouldn't say it was that bad. She wanted us to go to the Art Institute Museum down the street, and sketch samples of positive and negative space. A friend and I went together, and even with our powers combined, we weren't really able to navigate the building that well, what with it's two separate basements and sprawling exhibits. Also, come to find out that our teacher failed to inform us that some galleries don't allow sketching, so we got yelled at eventually. But, it did allow us to leave early in the end, though not as early as I would have liked.
Well, I have to get to bed. Can't be tired for tomorrow after being gone for so long. xD
